ACS712-20A Current Sensor Module The ACS712-20A Current Sensor Module is a compact and easy-to-use Hall-effect current sensing module designed to measure both AC and DC current. It can measure currents from -20A to +20A and provides an analog voltage output that can be directly interfaced with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi ADC modules, and other microcontroller-based systems. The module uses the ACS712 Hall-effect current sensor IC, which provides electrical isolation between the current-carrying conductor and the signal/output circuitry. This makes it suitable for a wide range of current monitoring and measurement applications. At zero current, the sensor output is approximately 2.5V when powered from 5V. The output voltage increases or decreases depending on the direction and magnitude of the current. The 20A version has a typical sensitivity of 100mV/A. The ACS712 detects the magnetic field generated by the current using its Hall-effect sensing element and converts it into an analog voltage. With a 5V supply, the output is approximately 2.5V when there is no current. As current flows in one direction, the output voltage increases, while current flowing in the opposite direction causes the output voltage to decrease. For the 20A version: Sensitivity ≈ 100mV per Ampere This analog output can be read using an ADC input on an Arduino, ESP32 or other compatible controller to calculate the current.
